Hellion Ltd was founded in 2011 by Dr. Francis Wray and William Wray to develop mobile and web application software.
Dr. Francis Wray
Francis Wray has an MA in Theoretical Physics and a PhD in Geophysics both from the University of Cambridge. His career in scientific consultancy and computing extends over 30 years. He has substantial experience in the technical, managerial and strategic issues relating to the application of new technology for competitive advantage, particularly with respect to computer systems. His specialist technical areas are advanced signal processing algorithms and parallel and high-performance computing. Over recent years he has supported the European Commission at a strategic level in the development of the Framework Work Programmes during the course of which he has written several reports in various areas of computing and contributed to the Strategic Research Agenda for Embedded Systems. He is actively involved in EU-funded projects from the evaluation of proposals to the managing and reviewing of projects. Since 1996 he has been retained as a consultant by the University of Edinburgh where he has supported and developed the technology transfer activities of its high-performance computer centre (EPCC). He has held senior positions in private and public companies, has extensive experience of collaborative and international projects and is an experienced project and staff manager. He is a Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Computing, Kingston University, London.
William Wray has a degree in Computer Science and a PGCE post-graduate qualification in Education (PGCE). From 2007 to 2010 he was the Technical Director of Pixid Ltd which was borne to create mobile applications for the emerging smart phone app stores. Currently William specialises in web based reporting software.

Recent Hellion work includes the following:
Pairwise Analysis
Pairwise analysis algorithms to rank students work and generate highly effective rubric scales for traditionally creative subjects. These applications have enabled hundreds of markers throughout Australia to assess thousands of students remotely in large scale sampling using different ranking modes.
NAPLAN
Web applications designed to interpret NAPLAN data over academic years and track students progress over time and managing teacher access in a complete student information and reporting service.
Student Marking and Assessment
Until 2016 Hellion was the sole developer and project manager for the Brightpath assessment platform. Brightpath has enabled thousands of teachers throughout Australia assess their students in usually indefinable subject areas such as Musical Composition or Creative Writing. Providing a complete student management platform and graphical assessment & coherent scoring tools.
App Store
Hellion have placed over 100 apps into the Apple App Store, ranging from geolocation real estate comparison apps to edutainment games to artistic content creation apps.
